In Praise of the Samsung BlackJack

Gizmodo is reporting that Samsung is denying rumors of a recall of its BlackJack phone due to antenna problems causing poor reception. For me, this is ironic. Just last week, I was on a conference call via my BlackJack, and someone on the other end commented that I sounded best of anyone on the call. I've had a BlackJack for about six months and I love it. It's slim but full featured, with a full QWERTY keypad, handy thumbwheel, 3G high speed data access, Outlook synchronization, Bluetooth, camera/video and Windows Mobile 5.0 with Media Player. On the road, it is my Web surfer, e-mail checker, MP3 player, news and RSS viewer and more. My reception is consistently better than with any phone I've used.

OK, one complaint: There is only one jack for connecting headphones, charger, USB cable, etc. So if you're synching with your computer, you cannot use the headset (unless you use Bluetooth).

One other complaint: The back is ridiculously hard to get off.

But those are minor annoyances. I really like the BlackJack and only wish I had the new BlackJack II.
