I note on my Media Law blog that a bill was filed in Massachusetts today to shield reporters from disclosing their sources. (Disclaimer: I was on the committee that drafted the bill.) Worthy of note is that the bill, as drafted, would protect many bloggers. It defines coverage to include any person who “engages in the gathering of news or information” and “has the intent, at the beginning of the process of gathering news or information, to disseminate the news or information to the public.”
