PC Law is bought; CompuLaw is sued
Two items in the news today involving providers of law office software.LexisNexis announced today that is has acquired Toronto-based Alumni Computer Group, the developer of PCLaw and PCLawPro time, billing and accounting software for law firms. An announcement said: "PCLaw will become part of the LexisNexis portfolio of content, software, and services and will be integrated with other LexisNexis products to create a seamless customer experience." LexisNexis already owns Time Matters.
Meanwhile, a former employee of CompuLaw, a provider of legal calendaring software, today sued the company and its president in Los Angeles Superior Court alleging sexual harassment. The company's former controller alleges that the company created a sexually hostile work environment.

CompuLaw's president David Kalmick referred us to partner Michael Sherman, of Alschuler, Grossman, Stein & Kahan, the company's outside counsel.
Sherman said CompuLaw and Kalmick, over the company's nearly 30-year history, "have been equal opportunity employers who provide a terrific workplace environment for qualified, competent employees," and dismissed the allegations as "nonsense."
"The complaint is not fit for a garbage can liner or kitty litter, and will be proved as such," said Sherman.
